Happiest Birthday

You probably noticed, but I took a little break, not only from blogging but from all electronics.  Yes, that meant no instagram, pinterest or any social media, smart phone and computer usage.  Honestly, it was good to do one of the things that I love, reading a book, the old-fashioned way.  Holding one and/or using my phone to hold the pages open while I munch on lunch is what I used to do all the time.  I wanted my boys to see me reading not just online, and it was not hard, especially since I found a good series of books.  I'm one of those people who find it very hard to put down a good book.  I have to finish it.  No matter what.  Dishes and laundry can wait.  Dinner...whatever is in the fridge.  Yup, my house is a war zone again.  :-D  It wasn't until yesterday that I started posting again.  Yes, I just finished a book and waiting for another.  I also made another card that CASEd Donna Mikasa's card on day 6 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class.
I love this stamp from Stampendous and I can not get enough of Distress ink.  I love the way it reacts with water.
I'm really into flicking water or ink onto my cards.  It's fun and it add that little something something.  Ha! :-)

Thanks tag

On Day 6 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, Laura Bassen made a couple of tags which I love.  I had to CASE one of them and stick it on a card.  It was easy to do, but so gorgeous.  I love this stamp from Stampendous and had to use it on this tag.  I cut out a bunch tags on my Silhouette and went to town with them.
I love the look of the threads behind the tag and I try to make it look organic but it never look right to me.  Oh well.  I still love that tag.

Play Day of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class: Thank You!

On the last day of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, the focus was on the same stamp used different ways.  I love the card that Jennifer McGuire made and decided to CASE it.  I have to admit that I love the look of embossed images but I don't like to heat emboss.  My heat gun gets super hot, and I am afraid of getting burn, or melting something  accidentally, or worst yet, burning somebody.  Yes, I've done all three at one point  :-p. I did follow some tips to help with that, and it definitely made this card not as scary.  Silly, right?!  I ended up using a shoebox cover as my holder, and that made it less painful, especially since I had a lot of powder to melt and multiple times.  I even got out all my embossing powder and have my heat gun on my table all ready to go now.   Here are my attempts and I have to admit that Jennifer makes it look so easy.  I found out quickly that I needed a lot more practice with melting embossing powder.
I was surprised to see the blue embossing powder blend right in with the silver.  I love this color blue.
The one below is my first attempt.  YIKES!  My desk had embossing powder all over the place.  I know.  So amateur hour, here.  :-D  Hey, that's why I'm taking this class...to learn.  :-)

Day 10 of Stretch Your Stamps 2: Happy Birthday

On Day 10 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, we focused on floral stamps.  Life is getting in the way of me getting in the craft room.  Can you blame me?!  It's summer!  Anyway, when I saw Kristina Werner's card with vellum, I had to try it out.  She's one of my favorites, and I absolutely love her videos and her amazing talent.  Her videos have really spur me into so many projects and blogging them.  She makes it look so easy.  Anyway, I usually shy away from embossing and vellum since the vellum would get all distorted, but I give it another try with her advice in mind.  It still got all distorted but I placed it under a book to straighten it out.
I embossed every layer of vellum with different elements of the bouquet.
I didn't have yellow embossing powder so I colored it with yellow marker and I like that look too.
I didn't have pure green but I like this variation of it.

Day 9 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class: Happy Birthday

On Day 9 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, we focused on floral stamps.  Sorry for a late post.  I was under the weather and all I wanted to do was stay in bed.  Anyway, I admire bloggers who post everyday.  You probably notice how lean my posts are lately.  It's the only time I can spare, especially in the summer.  Any whoo, for this card, I tried a technique of Dawn from WPlus9 and I have to tell you that I am a big fan of hers, if you don't know that already from all my other watercolor posts.  I swear she comes up with the best and fun techniques that are easy to do, but looks complicated.  I only recently discovered her, and she is so much fun and her videos are great too.

Okay, back to the card.  I have to admit that when I first stamped this out, it looked like a hot mess.  It wasn't until I scribbled on some lines that it looked good.  I had so much fun with this, eventhough my flower is so make-believe.  LOL!  That's the beauty of it.  Funny thing is that this is the type of stationeries that I am drawn to in the stores.  I noticed when I was editing this that the sentiment was little crooked.  :( Oh well.  Eyes are getting old.  :-P

Another thing, I had not worked with matte cardstock in ages.  I have forgotten how vivid the colors can be and how nicely my pen glides on.  These classes are the best!  Just simply for the fact that I am rekindling my love of certain products in my stash.

Day 8 Stretch Your Stamps 2: Hello

On Day 8 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, we focused on graphic stamps again.  I am scrounging to find a "graphic" stamp that I can use.  I decided to use this flag stamp from Lily Bee Design Christmas Cheer set, when I saw one of their suggested stamp set had them.  So far these classes are helping me use my stash, but it also tells me what type of stamp that I am lacking in too.  This thought surprises me, since I feel I have tons of stamps.  I just have to round out my stash.  ;-)

I decided to line them up with the help of an oval die to give these flags a curved shape.   I love the rainbow colored flags.

Day 7 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class: Happy Birthday From All of Us

On day 7 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, we focused on graphic stamps.  I had to look pretty hard through my stash for this, and finally found a diamond shape that I can use.

I love how simple and easy this card was.  Nothing beats back to the basic of just stamping.

Bonus Day of Stretch Your Stamps 2 Class: I Ruff You!

It's so awesome that we got a bonus day for our Stretch Your Stamps 2 class.  I just love the stamp from Mama Elephant and it is on my wish list.  For now, I will use one of my cute critters from Lawn Fawn.  I love these puppies!
I'm so glad that I can reverse the image to create a couple.  Guess who is this card for?!
I love adding glitter with Wink of Stella and then glaze on top.  I love that embedded shine!

Day 6 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class: Thanks

For Day 6 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class, I was inspired by Debby Hughes' card to use other materials.  I stamped on vellum and color it with markers.   It has been a while since I used vellum and tags in my cards, so I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out some tags in both vellum and cardstock.

I also used Personal Stamp Exchange Rose stamp for the tag as well as Cloud 9 background stamp.

Day 5 of Stretch Your Stamps Class: Thanks a Bunch

On day 5 of the class, we were using outline stamps of flowers and of course, I am going through my stash to find one.  I thought I had a lot of flower stamps but I was surprised by the limited amount that I had.  Here is a stamp from Personal Stamp Exchange (PSX) from ages ago that I found fit the criteria for this card.

I also used my Marvy markers and vellum, which I had not done in ages.  I really love this class, simply for the fact that I am finding hidden treasures right in my own stash.

Day 4 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 class: Thinking of You

It was another fun day, but I barely have time for this one.  I am CASE-ing the card made by Kelly from Lawn Fawn.  I don't have a lot of letter stamps and the ones I have are tricky to line up, so I tend to not even bother and this card was perfect for that.

I used my letters from a Fiskars stamp set, heart from Lawn Fawn Trim The Tree set and umbrella from Impression Obsession die.

Day 3 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 Class: Thinking Of You

It was another great day of class with techniques that I could not wait to try.  I am a fan of Debby Hughes and her style of cards as well as her photography of them so after watching her video, I was inspired to create this card.

I used Winnie and Walter The Big, The Bold And You stamp set and Lil' Inker dies for this card.
Close-up of the heart with stitches from the die.  Love Lil' Inker's dies with the stitches!
